If that sounds overwhelming to manually fight out, don't worry, there is a button that allows the AI to take over for you, and you can either leave it to do its thing for the entire match, or you can jump back in and resume control at any time.ĪoW also has civilizations and "classes" (secret technologies) that are actually different form each other and can combine in unique ways, as opposed to civ's version of a "different faction" being a reskin of the previous with a slightly different minor trait, and one different unit in a specific age of the game. Battles transition to a separate screen where any two groups facing each other can each have 6 units per stack attack, and up to 7 stacks total in the fight (42 units), and this also makes it more complex and more fun to actually do. In AoW you have much greater troop customization, and they have abilities that you can use. You perform a quick animation on the world map between two units and that is it. In Civ games combat feels as if it was an afterthought for the developers.
